Mainair Flying Club intends to further the profile of General Aviation & Microlight flying. Over the past few years, Microlight aircraft have made huge advances in design and construction. Traditionally seen as the poor cousin of the General Aviation community, modern 3 Axis Microlight's have closed the gap on the Group A fraternity, to the extent that such aircraft now out-perform the ubiquitous Cessna's & Pipers in range, speed, comfort and most importantly running costs. Cutting edge composite technology and digital avionics have allowed full featured performance aircraft to become available within the Microlight category. Flex Wing technology has also kept pace with innovation in the Microlight class, making this aspect of flying one of the most exhilarating and cost-effective ways of getting airborne! And with some exciting designs proposed following the recent single-seat deregulation, the future for the sport certainly looks bright. We embrace that future.
General Aviation has been the traditional route that prospective pilots have followed over the years to realise their dreams of reaching for the skies. Cessna & Piper have provided the staple training aircraft for most Flying Schools, and as such these aircraft have been an easy route for successful students to to achieve their pilots' licence. The availability of group owned aircraft in this category provides an affordable avenue for newly qualified pilots to hold a share in an aircraft, from where they can continue to build hours and experience.
